GO Personal Computer woos seniors

BY STAFF WRITER —
As the number of seniors using computers and the Internet continues to climb, more and more companies are seeing this as a business opportunity.

GO computerThe latest to develop a product aimed specifically at this market is the GO PC Computer which bills itself as easy to use, ready to go and practically fool-proof. All you have to do is plug it in.

Designed specifically for seniors, the GO has a large-letter keyboard, an easy, rolling trackball mouse and a zoom feature that allows you to magnify what is on the screen by up to 200 percent. It has a 19-inch, non-glare, high resolution screen with large buttons across the top of the page such as Back, Print, Help and Zoom that make it easy to find what you want to do.

The GO says it simplies email by limiting who can communicate with you. The system comes with a spam filter and five preset email addresses. You can add as many as you wish at anytime through your computer.

The company that developed the GO, MyGait, says it spend eight years developing it by consulting with seniors in retirement commuities. It touts the computer as being easy to use and ready to go right out of the box. And with its 24/7 toll-free Help Line, GO says you can call them and not your grandchild for help.

GO sells for $799 and there is a $20 monthly service fee that covers the Help Line, a spam filtering system for email, automatic software upgrades, and back-up of all your files.quillpen
